Conquer Your Overwhelm [1 Easy Tip]

Are you stressed or overwhelmed?

Do you feel overwhelmed by all the responsibilities you have or all the things you have floating in your mind that you’re juggling trying to keep track of?  Get that out of your mind and clear your head for a more stress-free life.  It isn’t healthy stressing about keeping track of so many things.  Let’s conquer your overwhelm, here we go!

Would you like an easy stress reliever?

The simple act of writing these things down is the easiest stress reliever there is, and you will feel better knowing that you have written everything down.

Clear your mind to conquer your overwhelm.

I have used many different methods for this, and currently, I’m using my phone to jot down thoughts each day.  I have a thought capturing app that I’ve built for myself called Snova that allows me to write my daily thoughts all in one place. Each day the app reminds me to review prior thoughts and add new thoughts.  I can mark off thoughts or actions that are completed.  It does so much more, but we’ll save that for another day!

I’m working on a new version of the app available for you soon.  So if you like the idea of being able to clear your mind, destress from lugging all that mental baggage around, and start making progress .. first sign up for the waiting list to be one of the first users on the new Snova app.

Let’s get started today.

In the meantime, let’s get you practicing writing everything down each day as new thoughts come to you.

Find the right tool for you.

I’d recommend something electronic, but some people love journals or paper.  I love the feeling of paper, and I originally started out writing everything down on index cards.  Each day I would change to another new card, and anything that needed to move on to the next day, I would copy it from the previous day’s card.

I’ve also used notebooks and Moleskine journals, which feel so lovely to work with; it’s hard not to love it, right?

If you don’t currently have a method but have a phone handy, you could always quickly text yourself or your email address.

Write all your thoughts down.

When wiring thoughts or tasks down, don’t be shy; write it ALL down, then when it comes time to review your lists, you can sort and clean up your thoughts.  That’s the next part of your new system that you’re developing, and I’ll save that for another day.  In the meantime, get started writing down /clearing your mind now, get it all out of your head, why wait?  You’ll immediately feel better.   It may be a long list, but you will have that out of your head.

Please do it now! I’ll wait…

I’m serious, do it now!

Feel the overwhelm melt away.

Doesn’t it feel great to clear your mind?  Feel the weight lifted off your shoulders.  Feel the clarity of your mind as you make headspace for other thoughts.

Pro tip:

If you feel overwhelmed by the number of items in front of you on your new list, that is natural.

  • First, mark all the things that you can do “Later.”  This will reduce your list for Today.
  • Next, take the remaining items and mark the ones you can do “Today.”  If you have more than 11 items marked for Today, try to reduce your list to 11 by moving some over to your “Later” category.
  • If you have less than 11 actions, this is healthy too.

Now you have a definite list of actions that you can do today that will clear your mental backlog and get you feeling better.

Pro tip:

If your item isn’t a clear action, rewrite it.

  • “dinner” could be “Order Delivery from _____.”
  • “clean garage” could be a massive mission. Break it down into smaller actions:
    • “Move boxes to storage.”
    • “Hang bikes on the wall.”
    • “Sweep and take out the trash.”

Take action today and feel better instantly.

This is just the beginning.  This is a daily goal.  A system to clear your mind.  This is one piece of the more extensive system that you’ll be learning known as SMYLE.

I’ll leave you with a quote from James Clear from Atomic Habits:

You don’t rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.
